SUCCESSFUL PRIMARY SCHOOLS PROGRAM IN RATHFRILAND.

The IBF were delighted to be in attendance at the culmination of a very successful Schools initiative in Rathfriland, which had involved over 170 pupils from 5 local primary schools and culminated with teams of 8 pupils from 5 local primary schools playing off to decide the 2026 winners.

The schools involved were Bronte Primary, Drumadonnell Primary, Iveagh Rathfriland, St Colman’s Annaclone and St Mary’s Rathfriland.

After a very competitive and enjoyable event, St. Colman’s Annaclone emerged as the winners.

Tommy Smith of the IBF was joined by Irish Men’s Team Manager, Gary McElroy, at the event, and both were impressed by the potential talent on view.

Thanks go to the organisers of this initiative, Nigel Moffett, John McConville and John Higgins from the Rathfriland Bowling Club. It is hoped that this template can be replicated in many other parts of the province to ensure the opportunities for school children to participate are maximised
