About us
The IBCA is an all Ireland body which aims to improve the standard of bowls throughout the island. Our vision is to have a coach in every bowling club to develop the sport and grow club memberships, leading to higher standards of play and dispelling the myth that it is an “old person’s sport”. We have the capacity to deliver coaching on indoor or outdoor surfaces and currently have approximately 130 active member coaches.
Accredited Training Programmes
The IBCA provides a range of accredited training programmes to develop coaches who can then deliver structured sessions to clubs on request. These can range from delivering bowls for beginners, to one to one sessions, to team coaching to help with pre – season preparation or any other performance issues. There is no regulated charge for this service however a donation to the IBCA to help cover travel costs and course materials is welcomed.
Working with children and young people
One of bowls’ biggest challenges is how to attract young people to view bowls as a skilled and challenging sport so IBCA welcomes opportunities to deliver bowls taster sessions in schools and youth organisations, helping to foster relationships with local bowling clubs.
